Rhea Mae Burleigh, 93, of Russell, Pa., Died on May 17, 2021 at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice.

She was born February 26, 1928, daughter of the late Rudolph and Eva (Wilcox) Schmiedel.

Rhea graduated in 1945 from Warren Area High School. She loved lunches with her classmates and a special group of friends. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing most of her family’s clothes for many years, including costumes for her husband. She always left a pin in everything she did to say I love you. She also enjoyed participating in art and craft exhibitions in the area and traveling. Most of all, Rhea enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Shelly Burleigh, Debra Burleigh and Holly (Fred) Stimmell and her loving puppy, Barney, all of Russell; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Rhea was predeceased to death by her husband, Marion Eugene “Uncomfortable” Burleigh; his brother, Duane Schmiedel; her sister-in-law, Lori Schmiedell, and her lifelong friend, Dixie Weldon.

No service will take place at this time.
