Pop-Up Palooza, a new event, will take place at 10 a.m. at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Center Saville parking lot for the defense of children. The Saville Center is located at the corner of 9th Avenue and Pine Street. We asked Shannon Hiner of the Saville Center about the event.

1. For those who may not be familiar, what does Center Saville do?

The Saville Center for Child Advocacy is a safe, child-friendly facility where forensic interviews, medical assessments, mental health services and referrals are provided to children involved in abuse investigations. The Saville Children’s Defense Center offers a soothing and calming atmosphere, in a building specially designed to alleviate a child’s fear.

2. What is Palooza Pop-Up?

Pop-Up Palooza is an outdoor, family-friendly, kid-friendly event hosting 30 vendors including: local artists, vintage items, furniture, gourmet treats, books, artwork, jewelry, baby items home, food, music, plants, golf disc, pottery, plants, pet accessories, kids’ activities, raffle and more!

3. Does this replace baking chili or can we expect another event at some point?

It is not a substitute for cooking chili. We try to do mini fundraisers to help with the costs of our medical chalet. You can expect more mini fundraisers in the future. We’re also having a golf tournament on July 12th and our big annual event will be August 27th at the Sparrow.

4. Who should attend?

Anyone Can Attend – It’s a community event for all ages!

5. Is there anything else you would like people to know?

Rental of the booth and proceeds from the sale of pastries will benefit the new medical chalet at Center Saville which opened in January 2021. If you are interested in making a donation, please visit our website: www.savillecenter.org or send your contribution to the Saville Center, PO Box 393, Stillwater, Ok 74076. Thank you for helping us serve the children of our community.
