On Saturday May 1, at the Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut, a fashion, talent and pet rescue extravaganza brought together over 40 entrants to the 2021 Greenwich Barking Beauty Pageant and gathered over $ 1200 for the Sandy Fund and Greenwich Stock Exchange Association.

Founded in 2006, the Barking Beauty Pageant is the original dog beauty pageant event and has hosted events in New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Denver, earning thousands of dollars for its affiliated local charities over the years. .

Seven dogs competed in Photogenic, Activewear, Glamourwear and Talent for the inaugural title of the Greenwich Barking Beauty Pageant, and received scarves, medals, gifts, a crown and a 2022 calendar cover for the winner, a small Maryland pug named Bob.

Leslie Kennedy, contest veteran, ceremony host and former NYCTV25 Doggie Moms star, created and hosted the event.

“It was the most exciting event we have hosted so far considering all the challenges of Covid,” she said. “The contestants really went out of their way with not only crazy costumes for their puppies, but also for themselves, and it looked like everyone in the audience had brought their furbabies to the festivities as well.

“I’m so proud of all of our competitors and so grateful to all of our sponsors and everyone who came out – it was truly a group effort – we are all working together for the benefit of the animals and the students,” he said. she adds.

“Thanks to the Greenwich Barking 2021 beauty contest, we believe we will be able to take care of more animals whose parents cannot afford all the care they need thanks to the Sandy Fund,” said Kaeley Blum, Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel and The Sandy Fund.

“I am so happy that I was able to convince Leslie to bring the competition to the Greenwich area,” said Cheryl Farley, Greenwich Competition Co-Director and Founder and Principal Broker of House of Maxx Real Estate. “It’s such a welcoming place for dogs, they can’t help but keep growing, and I love giving back to my community!”
