Dress your pup in fashionable clothes, accessories from FETCH to Huntington

The clothes worn at a hip Huntington boutique look like clothes that might be modeled on a catwalk, but you’re more likely to see them on a dog walk.

Northport residents Karen Durka and Susan Levine own FETCH, a store they describe as “a luxury dog boutique” featuring dog-inspired products with a “forward-thinking” parent.

Being different from other pet supply stores in the area is by design, Durka says. A self-proclaimed “real wearer” as well as a dog owner, Durka worked in the human fashion business for 28 years in Manhattan, mostly holding jobs in children’s clothing and swimwear.

“Most pet shops are 75% food, we wanted to be different,” says Durka. “Our clothes and accessories occupy about 70% of the store.” And when she’s ready to shop for new products and decide what to order from her dog clothes designers, Durka always keeps this question in mind: “Would I put this on my child or would that I would buy it for myself?”

FETCH opened in 2015 in a smaller space on Gerard Street in Huntington, then in 2020 the store moved to its current, larger location and added dog grooming to its services.

“It’s like one of those really nice department stores that have lounges inside. Dogs can get their hair done and then get something really nice to wear.

The store’s offerings also include collars, harnesses, dog toys and puppy layettes. A stylish black and white shed stripe tent shown as part of a summer camping themed display in the store looks like a tent being sold for children.

Other stylish items include a pair of dog pajamas that come with a matching sleep mask for the owner and a dog raincoat available in a choice of colors including yellow, red, navy and pink.

Prices range from $3 for a bakery dog treat to $300 for luxury dog bedding. FETCH is located at 310 New York Ave. in Huntington. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 631-824-6636 fetchshops.com.
